Thermal Belt Rail Trail

A 13.58-mile, 12-foot-wide trail that weaves through Rutherford County, connecting towns like Gilkey, Rutherfordton, Ruth, Spindale, and Forest City. With little elevation change, it's perfect for biking, walking, hiking, or running with your dog. Several parks along the way make it a great option for pet-friendly adventures.

Dittmer-Watts Nature Trail Park 

A series of interconnected natural surface trails built by local volunteers, offering a serene, wooded environment for hiking with your pup. Located near Lake Lure Classical Academy and the Lake Lure Green Space, this park also features a picnic shelter for a scenic break.
