Rumbling Bald Mountain is a collection of cliffs and boulders located in the non-fee area of 6,400-acre Chimney Rock State Park. Rumbling Bald is considered world-class bouldering and technical rock climbing with some of the best terrain in the Southeast. The climbing access site, just off Boy's Camp Road at the western edge of the town of Lake Lure, has long been used by the public as access for climbing, bouldering and hiking on surrounding public land. This is a day use area only, and it receives heavy visitation in the late fall and winter. Parking is limited and visitors are asked to park only in the designated area and to consider carpooling when planning a visit. All state park rules and regulations apply.
