CHIMNEY ROCK STAGE RIVALS RED ROCKS
Local musician Michael Yelton performs at The Gathering Place amphitheater.
CHIMNEY ROCK VILLAGE, N.C. (June 27, 2013): Move over Red Rocks because there is a new stage in town. From the expansive rock cliffs and 404-foot waterfall view, to the iconic Chimney Rock monument, the backdrop at The Gathering Place amphitheater in Chimney Rock Village rivals that of the Red Rocks amphitheater in Colorado.
The amphitheater park was built through fundraising efforts of the Village’s Community Development Association (CDA). The CDA just launched its 2013 summer concert series at the amphitheater featuring live music every third Thursday of the month through September.
With a limited capacity of 150, the venue may not rival the size of Red Rocks, but the sound quality is powerful and the smaller atmosphere provides a more intimate musical experience. Families and dogs are welcome, and admission is a $5 donation to the CDA. Food and drinks are also available for purchase.
The general public is welcome to rent the venue for events like concerts, weddings, birthday parties, and more. The Gathering Place is located in the center of Chimney Rock Village on the hill opposite the entrance to Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park. For information on reserving the venue, please visit www.ChimneyRockVillage.com or contact Bill Whitman at 828-625-2263. To learn more about Chimney Rock Village, please visit www.ChimneyRock.org
